Traveling has become an inextricable part of our lives. From our daily back and forth to work, school, or just for pure pleasure, we have spent countless hours on the road. But whatever the reason why we travel, all of us want a travel experience that is convenient, smooth, and hassle-free. To achieve such a goal, commuters can opt for RFID stickers.

Understanding Easytrip

Before delving into understanding what Easytrip is, it is vital to understand what and how RFID technology works. RFID, in a nutshell, is a wireless technology that uses radio waves to identify people, objects, or animals. It is composed of two components, which are the tag and the reader. The reader produces radio waves and receives signals from the RFID tag. On the other hand, tags use radio waves to exchange information, such as their identity.

Easytrip is an electronic toll collection system used by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation on their various expressways, which include the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), the C5 Link Flyover, NLEX Connector, and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX). However, with the new "Neology RFID sticker," Easytrip can now also be used on Autosweep-only toll gates such as SLEX, Skyway, Skyway Stage 3, NAIAX, STAR Toll, TPLEX, and MCX. This innovation allows for an even more seamless travel across Philippine tollways as users no longer need to have two stickers. (For non-Neology RFID sticker owners, you just need to have your existing Easytrip RFID sticker registered at any Autosweep installation sites to use your Easytrip RFID on aforementioned locations.)

Benefits of having an RFID sticker/account

Easytrip RFID stickers are read by an RFID scanner that is situated at toll gates. Once scanned, the system will deduct the specific amount from the user’s RFID account. This specific set-up provides users with the following benefits:

  • Cashless Transactions. Commuters do not need to bring cash when traveling. They just need to top up their RFID accounts which they can do via convenience stores, digital wallets, or through the MPT Drivehub app (for Easytrip users). Additionally, RFID technology as a payment method also reduces time spent on toll booths, making travel faster and more efficient.

  • Efficient Cost Tracking: Business owners and even private individuals would have an easier time tracking their transactions. This is because they can easily and instantly check their expenses on their accounts. This is compared to keeping paper receipts that can be lost or misplaced or having a manual record.
